Cherry Orchard Park Renewal
Growing with the Community
Dublin City Council is creating a Renewal Plan for Cherry Orchard Park to strengthen its role at the heart of community life.
Through public consultation in 2022 and ongoing conversations, people’s ideas have been gathered on how to make Cherry Orchard a greener, more inclusive, and multifunctional space. A park where people of all ages and abilities can explore, play, exercise and connect – now and for generations to come.
We are now pleased to share the Emerging Plan. We want to know what you think.

Emerging Plan
Community feedback has informed our Emerging Plan which includes high quality sports and recreation facilities, inclusive play areas, enhanced biodiversity and flexible spaces to support community events and gathering. The vision is for a park where people of all ages and abilities can explore, play, exercise and connect – now and for generations to come.
The park will be:
A place to connect with nature: Trails through trees and native planting, wetland spaces and woodland areas where you can slow down, breathe and enjoy the green on your doorstep.
A place to get active: A new 400m running track and 1km trail give serious runners and casual walkers alike a proper home in the park and a high-performance grass football pitch and all-weather kickabout area bring quality sports facilities to Cherry Orchard
A place to play: Inclusive play spaces woven throughout the park for young children, for teenagers, for families designed so that no one feels left out.
A place to meet: Outdoor spaces to gather, celebrate and perform including a new amphitheatre to host school & community events
A place to learn: Outdoor classrooms and activity zones designed to support local schools, youth groups and community organisations.

How will this inform the project - what happen's next?
Your feedback will help DCC’s Parks, Biodiversity and Landscape Services further develop their designs for the Park over the coming months. We want to continue to work closely with the community as the proposals evolve. Elements of the project may require planning permission and a statutory consultation would take place for those elements in the coming months.
