I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Brenda Fricker, one of the greatest Irish actors in history and a cherished Freeman of the City of Dublin.

From her groundbreaking, Academy Award-winning performance in My Left Foot to her countless unforgettable roles on stage and screen, Brenda was a true icon of Irish culture. Her immense talent, warmth, and dedication to her craft brought immense pride to our capital and our country.

On behalf of the people of Dublin, I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew and loved her.
