Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).
Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) - Part 8.
Applicant: Dublin City council, Climate and Urban Resilience, Protection of Water Bodies Division, Nature‑Based Surface Water Projects Unit
Location: Golden Lane, Whitefriars Street and Wood Street, Dublin 8
Proposal:
Nature and extent of the proposed development: The development will consist of the implementation of Nature‑Based Solutions (NBS) along Golden Lane, Whitefriars Street and Wood Street, including bioretention areas, rain gardens, a swale, permeable paving and other sustainable surface water interventions designed to improve water quality, reduce runoff and enhance climate resilience. The project supports the objectives of Action 70 of the national Active Travel and Sustainable Mobility Policy, promoting the reallocation of road space to prioritise walking and climate‑adaptive infrastructure. The development also contributes to Dublin City Council’s commitments under the River Basin Management Plan to improve the ecological status of urban water bodies and reduce pollutant loads.
